  1. Brush your hair with a clean bristle brush before you take a shower. Try to brush your hair when it’s wet as little as possible because it can cause your hair to break, get split ends or frizz. If your hair is tangled after the shower and you have to brush it, use a detangling spray on the areas that are knotted and then brush.
  2. Don’t wash your hair in hot water because it will strip your hair of its natural oils and cause it to dry out.
  3. When conditioning your hair, leave the conditioner on for five minutes. After conditioning, wash your hair with cold water as doing so will lock the conditioner into your hair, leaving it shiny and soft.
  4. When styling your hair, try to use hair dryers and flat irons as little as possible. If you’re ironing your hair every other day, you will eventually wake up one morning with fried, scary looking hair.
  5. Get your hair trimmed regularly so that you get rid of split ends.
